Pablo is a mountain guide of the Mountain Guide Argentine Association
and also a guide of the National Park Agency. He was born in General
Acha (La Pampa, Argentina), and has lived in Esquel for the past 36
years.
Pablo got started in the mountains at the age of 5 at the Club Andino
Esquel.
He has climbed and guided groups on the Aconcagua (6.956 m), reaching
the summit in seven opportunities.
He is also Rafting and Kayaking guide and assistant, white waters (grade
III and IV) and touring.
Ignacio Rubén
Contreras
Ignacio was born in Bariloche and has lived in Patagonia for 30years. Mountains
were his backyard and learned since childhood to love and respect them.
Since his 20 he has been committed to fight forest fire working for the
Nahuel Huapi National Park and for the Province of Chubut agencies.
Ignacio is a guide of the Los Alerces National Park and has a bachelor degree
in Forestry, Metheorology and Fire Behavior.
He knows the Andes from Colombia to the Argentine South, having climbed
several peaks of more than 6.000 m in the Peruvian Andes, among them the
Huascara Norte in solitude.
In the South of Argentine has climbed the peaks of the Fitz Roy and Torre
and he has also made the crossing of the Continental Ice.
Ski, rivers and lakes touring are part of his mountain skills.
Glaxiar guides will meet you after crossing the bridge
over the Arrayanes river where the interpretation trail to the Lake
Menéndez starts. At that point guides will make a brief description
of the day and the equipment and immediately after that the trekking
will begin.
- It starts with a 45 minutes walking by of the Menéndez River
rapids to Puerto Chucao.
Once in the port navigation equipment will be provided and instructions
about safety and behavior in the boat will be explained.
- We will navigate the East branch of the Menéndez Lake and 40
minutes after we will arrive to Puerto Nuevo at the base of the Torrecillas
glacier.
- The guide will give you the low impact rules required to walk in this
untouched environment.
- We ascend for one hour and a half (medium difficulty) following a
mountain creek to its headwaters, El Antiguo lagoon, resting at the
base of the spectacular Torrecillas Glacier.
- While trekking, alerces, tineos and other trees of the valdiviana
jungle will be seen.
- Guides will tell you the history of this beautiful place.
